3-day 'freakin weekends are so refreshing...

Insta-Weekend: 5.20.12

This was a weekend of birthday parties. Three to be exact. The themes were: Fancy Nancy, Handy Manny, and Mickey Mouse. Very fun! The earlier part of the week was not so fun - I included a short synopsis below for your entertainment.

Our first taste of watermelon of the season!

M not-so-patiently waiting for cake and ice cream. The party was at the Williston Center and the boys insisted on wearing their birthday t-shirts to Carson's party. 

We went to the farmer's market in Minneapolis. We arrived and Prior said "hey Mom - where are all the farmers?" I love this kid. Such a relevant question. Minus all of the whining,I seriously love everything that comes out of their mouths. So cute and innocent.
This corn tasted amazing - I can't wait for it to be ready this season!

And now for the story. Earlier in the week, we went head-to-head with the stomach flu. Apparently God thought that we should celebrate the 1 year anniversary of THIS, with another round. Fortunately this time around we were at home and not thousands of miles from home in a hotel room. Unfortunately, this time everyone got it. Well, most everyone. Everyone except the lucky, lucky, lucky person that boarded a plane early Monday morning and avoided it completely. Ben managed to not only avoid getting sick, but also avoided having to clean it all up for 3 days straight (while being sick). Even Erika was sick. The boys watched more cartoons on Tuesday than they have watched in all 3 years of their lives combined. I couldn't function! It was a rough few days!

Can I just tell you how funny these two think it is to make farting noises? 

The giggles are completely contagious - it's impossible not to laugh with them.

Good Morning!

On some mornings the boys are still sleeping when I leave for work...other mornings they are awake. It usually depends on how late they stayed up talking to each other in bed the night before! But either way I absolutely love that they get to wake up on their own. They have plenty of years ahead of them to be woken up.


I end up getting out of the house earlier on days that they sleep in, but then I miss not seeing them in the morning before I leave!


This morning they were still sleeping when I left the house and I was really missing them when I got to work. So I sent Erika a text that said: "Good Morning to my Boys!"


And this is what I got back....

This might be my favorite text message EVER!


(PS - Mason does not have an owie on his face - he just wanted a band-aid!)

Insta-Weekend: 5.6.12 - Ants in the Pants

Three is way more hectic than two. Whoever coined the phrase "terrible twos" must have done so simply because it rhymed! There is definitely more energy (and whining and tantrums) now than when they were two.


Twin three-year-old boys and rainy weekends do not mix! This was the second rainy weekend in a row. Thank goodness for the Williston Center. By Sunday morning we were there when they opened and the boys ran, jumped, swam, and yelled for over 3 hours straight. It was exactly what the doctor ordered and we had a blast!


It was cute because one of them went up to an adult stranger on two separate occasions and said: "We had our 3rd birthday party here. It was dinosaurs. T-Rex." They were so proud!


I love these pics - the boys look so happy in each one! These "freakin' weekends" go entirely too fast!

Insta-Weekend: a Catch Up!

My sister reminded me of the obvious...I'm a little behind. Life just needs to slow down a bit...

We had a trip to Iowa that i didn't do a good job of taking pictures at...

And I had one of my best friends in town another weekend.

Turns out these two little boys do not like to "share" me with anyone else. Especially on a "freakin' weekend". They.were.naughty!

Anyway, Ben and I started calling weekends "freakin' weekends" back when that Rhianna song was popular, and the boys picked up on it. At least once per day I get asked: "is today the freakin' weekend, Mom?" Because the weekend means mom and dad are HOME!

The worst is when they ask if tomorrow is the "freakin weekend" on a Sunday or Monday night...ugh!

Whenever the boys get wet they say: "I'm soap'n wet!" I guess they got that from "soaking wet" but I think I like "soap'n wet" better so I'm going with it!
