John Deere Hats

For weeks the boys have been talking about how Grandpa Denny told them they need John Deere hats. Grandpa didn't exactly recall that conversation, but he and Grandma did come through with some new hats. I wish I had their excitement, dancing, and screaming on video when they opened the package from Grandma Barbie and Grandpa Denny. They haven't taken the hats off since. In fact, they have them on right now and they are in bed sleeping.

I couldn't help taking the last picture when I caught Mason in the act. I guess farmin' hats were also an invitation to pee outside. To Mason's credit, he did go behind the tree.

First Day of Preschool

We dropped our boys off somewhere today - for the very first time. PRESCHOOL.

There's something much easier about being able to leave for work knowing the boys are at home. Today was different! But the boys are ready, so it's a good thing.

They are officially starting preschool in the fall, but we are easing into it with a few weeks of summer camp. The school is very close to our house so the boys are able to walk with Erika. It's only 3 days a week in the mornings.

Last night I woke up from a dead sleep because of a bad dream. P had fallen into some sort of water and I couldn't get him. It was an awful awful dream and I couldn't get back to sleep. I woke up before I could save him. I have since decided that it was a symbolic dream....a dream of letting go. This is only the beginning, I know, but it is really hard! Can they just stop growing up so darn fast!?

We weren't sure if they would cry when we dropped them off. Leading up to the big day we talked about it a lot and they always asked if I could stay there with them. They couldn't have cared less about that when we dropped them off. They barely said goodbye!

When I picked them up and were back in the car, Mason said "Mom, thank you very much for taking me to preschool." Seriously, kid, could you be any cuter?!

These little backpacks crack me up. Erika said they wore them all afternoon - refused to take them off after returning from school. Their teachers might actually let the boys wear them all day so they can tell them apart...

They absolutely loved it - and I am so happy for them!

(this cheesy smile stage is so much fun...)
