Insta-Weekend 4.15.12

I can hardly contain my excitement....

Mom, Cara and I went wedding dress shopping! It was so much fun!
I'm just warning everyone that my sister is going to be the most beautiful bride EVER! We started out our day-o-fun shopping trip with brunch and some fresh squeezed OJ and mimosas. So yummy.

While the girls went shopping, the three boys went to the Twins game. It was a gorgeous day.

If someone would have told us even last summer that Ben would have voluntarily taken both boys to the Twins game alone...I don't think we would have believed it. Neither of us could have dreamed that we'd ever get to such an "easy" stage with these two!

Insta-Weekend 4.8.12

We managed to find room in our truck for a poor college student and his garbage bag of clothes that needed a ride back to college. It was very fun to see Uncle Jakey's college. The boys loved it.

After dropping Jake off, the ride back up north was pretty darn quiet. I guess these two boys weren't cut out for life on the road.

When we got home we dyed eggs. 18 of the 18 were cracked before we were finished, but it was fun. Despite the cracks, the boys had a daily Easter egg hunt with Erika for the entire week that followed. I finally threw the eggs away after the shells were starting to crumble off and they started to smell.

Homemade Popcicles

In preparation for summer, I ordered some popsicle molds from Amazon...

And this is how we made the popsicles. I have some fun recipes "pinned" on Pinterest, but this was just a quick recipe of greek yogurt, frozen berries, and a little milk. It was the only thing I could come up with 30 seconds after we opened the box.

Here we are making the popsicles.

And here's what happened after I explained that the popsicles would have to go into the freezer....OVERNIGHT.

Just your standard three-year-old temper tantrum. Times TWO.

Luckily, it was all worth it the next morning. I remember not that long ago where the boys would forget about things...especially promises I would make hoping and assuming they would not remember the promise at a later date or time. Not anymore! These two little yahoos had popsicles for breakfast that next morning. They may have dreamt about them the entire night because they were talking about popsicles before their feet hit the floor the next morning!

Easter 2012

The boys talked for weeks about going back to the farm, seeing grandpa and grandpa and their cousins, driving tractors, feeding the cows, and everything that goes along with farming. They absolutely love it. We even got to see some newborn "cabs" (calves)!!

We got to "pick eggs", stay up way past our bedtime and eat lots of candy.

The boys slept for over 2.5 hours on the drive home. Mason woke up after his long nap, opened his eyes, and yelled: "that bull was really hungry!!"

Clearly he was dreaming about the farm during his nap!

Kansas City...Kansas City Here I Come!

I can count on about three fingers the number of times I've left the boys overnight for "fun" over the last 3 years. It's one of those things that is hard to do but so worth it! (Despite the crying meltdown that occurred when I left for the airport). Apparently I promised the boys a present as I was frantically leaving because the few times I talked to them while I was gone that's all they could ask me - "mom, what's my present!??!" They were so excited.

So I happen to have these roommates from my college years that are the most fun (and beautiful) girls on the planet. I feel so lucky! I don't get to see them very often, but when I do we pick up right where we left off. That's the sign of a true friend!

We were celebrating Jen's bridal shower and bachelorette party. Can I just tell you how much this girl deserves happiness!? We could not possibly be more happy for her. I was so happy to be with her on her special day!

And then there's her family - her amazing mom and sister that threw her the best party possible. Not a detail was left out!

I love houses. Jen and her fiancé recently completely remodeled their house from wall-to-wall. It was uh-mazing. I'm so jealous! This house should seriously be on the parade of homes. I guess Jen chose the more fun major in college - interior design. What was I thinking!?

Insta-Weekend 3.24.12

The boys still like to sleep in their "cribs" at Grandma Julie's - otherwise known as pack-n-plays. They can't lay straight in them - the boys are too long. And they just can not be comfortable. One morning I woke up to this - they were both in the same crib. Goof balls!
We went to a 40th birthday party - and the boys were belly up at the bar. Quarters please!
I can't tell you how many "games" of pool they played. Games is in quotations because the game was to drop the balls into the closest pocket as quickly as possible. We went through a lot of quarters!

Another pic from the bike ride.

We got sweet new scooters from Grandpa Don and GG - and we took them everywhere. They even asked to sleep with them in their cribs.
Mason reading a book.
