We celebrated their 2nd birthday on Saturday with family. A little smaller crowd than we were expecting (lots of sickness this time of year). But we had a blast.
And guess what?! I took lots of pictures!
Auntie Cara arrived on Friday night and present opening began immediately!
(The "general mayhem" and "major trouble" t-shirts are from Grandma Julie - they crack me up!)
My friend Kristi made these amazing truck cookies. They looked and tasted amazing!
The boys couldn't wait for the party to start - they had to have a cookie right away!
Cara came early and helped me make the boys' dirt pile cakes. They were really fun to make. I used the same cake pan that I used for their baseball smash cakes last year. I wonder how long I can keep using the same pan and incorporating the theme of their party. It's officially a challenge.
Chocolate cake, oreo crumbles, a tonka truck, and two cone candles
Have I gone overboard!? I found these felt crowns on etsy and couldn't resist.
The felt crowns for P&M inspired me to make crowns for the cousins. I found these at Michaels and added some puff paint (it had been a while since I had used puff paint!)
Prior helped make the cupcakes.
The finished cupcakes - jello poke cakes
The new basketball hoop from Uncle Jake was a huge hit. There was a mini-meltdown when we opened the box and there was only one basketball inside. But we were able to locate a soccer ball that works just as well. It didn't take long for them to learn how to dunk it from the ottoman. I have a feeling this hoop will be a favorite for a long time.
I let the boys choose what they wanted to wear on their birthday - they even chose colors that matched the party. I told them they should be wearing their basketball jerseys and not their football jerseys - but they insisted. Mason's expression cracks me up.
Based on the color scheme - I guess it means we're cheering for the Steelers?
I couldn't help but pick up some gorgeous yellow lillies from the florist down the street. Spring will be here soon, right? We only have 60 inches of snow that need to melt. My mom helped me with the banner and the decorations hanging from the light - thanks Mom!
My other party planner
P&M - ready for their dirt cakes!
Dig in! They were more intrigued with the trucks on top than the actual cake, surprisingly.
Time for more presents!
Grandpa Don and GG surprised the boys with new BIKES! And by new bikes - I mean, two new bikes, helmets, two biking shirts with their names on them, spandex biking shorts, and biking gloves. I can't wait to get them all decked out this summer. RAGBRAI - here we come!
The look on P's face - it's almost like he's picturing jumping curbs and racing down hills. Yikes!
They can almost reach the pedals. Another meal or two of broccoli and spinach and they should be set to go. They love being pushed on the bikes - I don't think it will take long for them to figure out the pedals. And then - watch out!
The gloves are hilarious - I love them!
What party would be complete without a pinata?!
On Sunday morning we had some left over cornbread muffins - yummy!
To my boys:
